In examining the conditions placed upon the female body, I understand an unassimilable face:a woman’s body is most often either a sex toy or a reproductive container.
This dissociation is reiterated across time.With this work I explore the instabilities of a lack of integration and embodiment.All are fragmented. As if assembled from different female body parts turned inside out, this composite sculpture is on view as an internal subconscious layer exposed for scrutiny. Suspended above eye level, the interconnected stockings and glass objects stuffed with meat become stand-ins for a body controlled (and often violated) by the objectifying male gaze.
